The 762 Club - LYNformation Bulletins

Aware that much development has been going on in the background, but little has been seen in public, and also that the pace of development is gradually increasing, the 762 Club introduced this on-line update feature in early 2013. This page, updated around once a month, will provide brief news snippets, images and general "Lynformation" on our progress. Please come back regularly for the latest updates.

LYNformation Bulletin No.34: October (2nd Edition)

Dear All,

Welcome to LYNformation 34.

Due to great progress at Lowther's, we thought we should do a special mid-month LYNformation:

What's this I hear you ask?

It's mid-month and we have a new LYNformation? What can be going on?

Well, we are publishing a shortish new edition of LYNformation to show to you excellent progress on the frames and pony truck. so without further ado, here goes:

1. Main Frames

The first two images shows the main side frames being prepared at AKL, with the final adjustments being made on the rocking shaft. As you can see, these are BIG pieces of metal and were photographed on stands outside AKL just waiting for transportation to Lowther's.

The next three photographs were also taken in the AKL works, with a trial fitting of the saddle. It was essential that the bolt holes that hold the cylinders, frames and saddles all very accurately line up, so before the main assembly started, it was key that this was tested first at AKL.

The final four images of the frames were taken at Lowther's about a week ago, and show the excellent progress to date in creating the assembled main frame. As you can see, the main stretchers and cross beams have been added, together with the front and rear buffer beams. Lowther's have fond a few parts missing which they are going to make, but so far, so good.

2. Front Pony Truck

This is practically finished and painted! Here are two images of the assembly going together and I heard on Friday that the front truck is now 99% complete.

3. Rear Pony Truck

More good news here is that the drawings have been released and so we can order the remaining profiles. It should be ready for our open day on the 28th November. This image shows the wheels being pressed onto the axle.

I hope you all have the 28th November firmly in your diaries and looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible then.

LYNformation 35 will be issued around 7th November.

Thanks,
Peter
